Wynonna Tells Shania Twain “Don’t Touch My Hair” During Concert
on Jun 09, 2023
Shania Twain brought her “Queen of Me” tour to Music City Wednesday night, June 7, and she brought along some special guests.
Shania Twain closed out her Nashville concert by bringing out Wynonna Judd and Tanya Tucker to perform “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”.
Three legendary female country singers sharing the stage was an unexpected treat for fans in attendance. It also provided a fun look into the friendship between the trio as they bantered and laughed together through the performance.
One such moment came after Wynonna joined Shania and Tanya on stage. Shania welcomed Wynonna by putting her arm around her shoulders. Wynonna reacted by looking straight ahead and telling Shania, “Don’t touch my hair.” Shania responded with a nervous, “Oh…”.
Both women laughed after the exchange, with Shania following up with, “This is a really epic moment. You guys realize that, right?”
The moment was captured on camera and shared to social media to mixed reviews. While some thought that the comment from Wynonna was harsh, true fans of the “Why Not Me” singer were quick to defend her saying that it was sarcasm and a testament to her sense of humor.
It was also noted that Wynonna’s iconic red hair has long been off limits and often asks people not to touch it. Longtime followers of Wynonna know that the singer is known as much for her kindness and joy as she is for her voice, and she meant no disrespect to Shania Twain with her comment. And Shania was obviously not offended by the banter.

In a 2022 interview, Shania Twain Opened Up About Her Friendship With Wynonna.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Twain said that she and the “Why Not Me” singer “bonded over time, not over music.”
“It is the sweetest and we find happiness in the simple things,” Twain says. “We have a lot in common in our childhood, music history and growing up with music — our mothers being so involved with our music, and so we just have more in common than we’d ever imagined while we were in our prime of chart-topping music.”
