The North Texas Four Sixes Ranch is approximately 266,255 acres, making it one of the state’s largest ranches. The ranch is made of three separate properties, all of which must be purchased as one entity. Altogether, the ranch size translates to roughly 416 square miles, which is almost the size of San Antonio. The ranch hit the market in December after the death of the family heiress; at the time, the listing price was $341 million.
Samuel Burk Burnett started the ranch around 1900. Burnett was one of the most successful cattlemen in Texas history. Legend claims Burnett’s ranch name got its name from a winning poker hand of four sixes, but the legendary rancher actually bought 100 cattle with an existing 6666 brand at age 19.
While Sheridan confessed that he could not comment on a pending transaction, it is speculated that a third Yellowstone spinoff series titled 6666 is in the works. Unlike the Yellowstone ranch, the spinoff would be based on the Four Sixes Ranch.
“I can’t comment on a pending transaction but I will say this: the legacy of the 6666 Ranch and Miss Marion’s vision for the ranch are vital not only to the ranch itself, but the rich heritage of ranching in Texas,” Sheridan shared in a statement to The Texas Spur. “This legacy is so important to me I chose to highlight it in the upcoming season of ‘Yellowstone’ and will continue to further the legacy and preserve its operations in a manner consistent with that great vision.”
