You Can Now Treat Your Dog To A Non-Alcoholic Beer
on Jun 10, 2019
People around the world love to kick back, relax, and crack open a few cold ones with their best pals. But for the longest time, man’s best friend has been left out of the fun.
Of course, y’all know that dogs can’t have alcohol. According to Pet MD, most dogs don’t even find alcohol appealing, but if they do get into it, and consume too much, it could be bad news.
“A dog weighs substantially less [than humans] and is not used to consuming alcohol,” Dr. Christine Rutter, a clinical assistant professor in the department of small animal clinical sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University told Pet MD. “So processes that break down alcohol are not regulated in a dog the same way as a person who consumes alcohol once in a while.”
But at last, there’s finally a safe way for you to enjoy a cold one with your canine companion, thanks to one couple with a passion for pets.
Megan Long and her husband, Steve, started a company called Good Boy Dog Beer to provide pups with tasty, non-alcoholic dog “beers” after making their own treats for their dog, Rocky, who has food sensitivities and allergies.

“It helped his allergy outbreaks significantly [to make his treats at home] and we just seemed to progress from there eventually starting our own line of beer for dogs,” Megan writes in the “Our Story” section of the company’s website.
So the couple made Good Boy Dog Beer, which currently boasts four flavors. One is chicken-based, one is pork-based, one is veggie-based, and another is peanut-based.
The dog beers are only available for sale in person at a few locations in and surrounding Houston, Texas. So if you happen to live in the area, you can pick up a can of Good Boy Dog Beer while you’re out and about with your four-legged friend.

Don’t live in Houston? No worries! Good Boy Dog Beer sells all of its products online, and you can purchase them here. One can will set you back $5, or you can buy four cans for $18.
Whether you buy one can or four, your pup is sure to thank you for the delicious new treat!
