Zac Brown Details His Proposal To Kendra Scott
Zac Brown went all out when it came to proposing to his now-fiancée, Kendra Scott.
Country superstar Zac Brown and jewelry designer Kendra Scott made their relationship public earlier this year when they walked the red carpet together at the American Music Awards in May.
At that point, the couple had kept their relationship completely private, but they had actually been together for several months after being introduced by mutual friends.
Then, on July 24, Brown and Scott shared the news that they were engaged.
“We are so happy and grateful that we found each other,” they said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time.
A few months later, neither the “Chicken Fried” singer nor the jewelry mogul had shared many details about their upcoming wedding or the proposal itself. But recently, Brown opened up about how he popped the question to Scott during an interview with Fox News.
“Kendra’s such an amazing human being. We share so much in the way we love our family, the way we protect our people and our business, the way that we fight for good things in our philanthropy, the way that we choose to try to help each other. I had to figure out a way to do it,” he said about the proposal.
Brown ended up surprising Scott with an incredible view right before asking her to marry him.
“So, we were actually on a river. And on a barge with 30 elephants on the bank and the sun setting and birds flying over and hippos in the water. And I got it good.”

Both Brown and Scott have been married before. Brown was previously married to Shelly Brown for 12 years before their divorce in 2018. He married his second wife, model Kelly Yazdi, in August 2023, but the couple split just four months later.

Scott was married to John Scott from 2000 to 2006. She then married Matt Davis in 2014, and they were together until 2022. Two years later, she wed Thomas Evans, but they separated not long after.
“It’s not our first go around, but it’s definitely so much different than anything I’ve experienced before,” Brown said. “And I’m so grateful that we found each other and that we can relate to being leaders. We can relate and support each other on a level that just hasn’t happened before, so I love her heart.”
They’re also looking forward to blending their families. Between the two of them, Brown and Scott have a total of eight children.
“We put our family first, and that’s the most important thing. I’m so excited for her and her kids and my kids, everybody, for us to be a family together is such a blessing, man.”
