Tegan Marie is quickly making a name for herself in the country music community. The 12-year-old singer already had a large following when she released her cover of Florida Georgia Line's mega hit, "H.O.L.Y." in June. The video sent her to internet superstar status, after it gathered nearly 15 million views on Facebook.
She may only be 12 years old, but Tegan is already an experienced artist. The Michigan native picked up a guitar for the first time when she was six, and started writing her own songs by the time she turned eight. By age 11, Tegan found herself playing at venues all across the country.
Tegan has also generated millions of views on her video covers of popular country singers. Besides Florida Georgia Line, Tegan has also covered major stars such as Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood.
After generating so much attention online, Tegan was granted the incredible honor of performing the National Anthem for the U.S. Women's Soccer Team before their match against Costa Rica on July 22.
It takes a lot of talent to be able to sing the National Anthem and do it well, but Tegan more than excelled with her performance. From the first note on, you'll be amazed by her pitch and control of her voice, something that isn't easy to master. Yet at only 12 years old, Tegan already has it down.
Beyond her technical skills, the pure beauty of Tegan's voice is what makes the performance so stunning. The moment when she hits that final high note at the end can only be described as chill-inducing.
Tegan performed in front of thousands of fans that day, all of which rewarded her with enthusiastic cheers following her firecracker of a performance. You can watch part of her performance in the video below, which Tegan shared on her Instagram.
Keep a close eye on this girl, because she's going to be country music's next big star!
