Elvis Presley Sings His Relationship Regrets In “Always On My Mind”

It seemed as though the entire world knew about Elvis Presley‘s relationship with his wife, Priscilla. From their unconventional meeting when she was just 14 years old, to her moving to Graceland during her senior year of high school, to their marriage and subsequent divorce, fans knew just about every detail of their lives.

They were married in 1967 and divorced in 1973, but they always continued to care for one another. After all, they did share a child together.

Just a few weeks after they announced their separation, Elvis went to the studio and expressed his feelings the only way he knew how, through music.

He recorded the heart-wrenching ballad “Always On My Mind” and since the lyrics suggest regret from a relationship, one can only think he was singing about Priscilla.

Presley more or less admits he could have done more in the relationship by singing the following lyrics:

“Maybe I didn’t treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn’t love you
quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time,”
