The Devil Meets His Match In Trace Adkins’ Fiery Tribute To Charlie Daniels

Even if you aren’t a country music fan, you know the Charlie Daniels Band’s number one hit single, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Once you hear it, there’s no forgetting the iconic fiddle battle that takes place between the Devil and a young man named Johnny.

The Devil, confident that he will win, says he will steal Johnny’s soul if he doesn’t manage to out-fiddle him. He puts up a good fight, but Johnny smokes him with a high-paced solo, and gets to keep his soul.

That hit is one of many that have contributed to Charlie Daniels‘ successful career, which led to him being inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday (October 16). During the ceremony, Trace Adkins stepped up on stage to honor Daniels with his most recognizable song.

Joined by talented fiddler Andrea Zonn, Adkins lit the stage on fire as he sang about Johnny’s intense battle against the Devil. His deep, bellowing voice was the perfect fit for the song, as it made him appear as a force to be reckoned with.

Just as Johnny won the fiddle face off in the song, Adkins won over everyone in the audience with his fiery tribute. See for yourself in the clip below!

Another hot song Adkins sings is his latest single, “Lit.” In the song, Adkins sings about all of the things that light up a person’s life, most of all being a kiss from someone you’re crazy about.
