On August 31, angler Bryan Robles caught an 11-foot, 7-inch tiger shark off the coast of Corpus Christi. Don’t worry – the fish wasn’t harmed. The giant male shark was tagged, photographed, and released back into the wild.

The shark was caught as a part of the Texas Shark Rodeo, a shark fishing tournament that pairs with conservation efforts to help keep sharks safe. The tournament also collects DNA samples to hand over to conservation organizations to help them learn more about the health and well being of area sharks.
