13-Year-Old Shocks “The Voice” Coaches, Sparks Battle Between Kelly Clarkson & Riley Green

A 13-year-old’s The Voice audition stunned all four coaches, with two of them pulling out all the stops to convince her to choose them as her coach.
On Monday night, September 21, Season 30 of The Voice premiered with its first round of Blind Auditions. Viewers saw several incredibly talented singers take the stage and get their chance to impress the show’s four coaches: Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah, and Adam Levine.
But it was the youngest contestant who had one of the most talked-about performances of the night. New Jersey native Brianna Cameron, who is only 13 years old, decided to perform Ike & Tina Turner’s “River Deep – Mountain High.”
If you’re familiar with the song, you know it’s a powerful one. But Brianna immediately proved that hitting those high notes wasn’t going to be a problem for her.
It only took about 30 seconds of her performance for Kelly to turn her chair. She was on her feet dancing in no time.
Then a little later, first-time coach Riley Green couldn’t resist either and turned his chair as well. Queen Latifah and Adam Levine were also wowed by Brianna, but they decided to not turn.
When her performance was over and she introduced herself, the coaches couldn’t believe that such a strong voice came from someone so young. Kelly even rushed to the stage to give Brianna a hug.
It turns out Brianna is actually a pretty seasoned performer for her age. She revealed that she played a young Tina Turner on the Tina Turner National Tour. She had also crossed paths with Queen Latifah before because she appeared on the singer’s show The Equalizer.

The Voice Coaches Battle It Out For 13-Year-Old Singer
Now, it was time for Kelly and Riley to get competitive and convince Brianna that they would be the best coach for her.
“Brianna, that was the biggest voice I think I’ve ever heard on this show,” Riley said. “I’m extremely impressed by you, and I have no question you can sing anything.”
Then, it was Kelly’s turn to give feedback.
“Hi Brianna, remember me, I turned around first and waved? Hold on to it,” Kelly joked.
She continued, “I thought you were grown. It was insane. All your runs. I loved actually when your voice broke, and it had that like rasp to it. Wow.”
Kelly reminded Brianna that she had already won The Voice four times, so she’d be a pretty good choice if Brianna wanted someone who could take her all the way to the end.
Of course, as a newcomer, Riley doesn’t have that experience under his belt yet. So, he pulled out the one thing he was sure nobody could say no to.
He got out of his chair, walked over to grab his dog, Carl, and brought him over to Brianna.
“I just want you to look into his eyes,” Riley said. “What do you think Carl would want you to do?”
That was a pretty slick move on Riley’s part, but it still wasn’t enough to win Brianna over. In the end, she chose Kelly as her coach.
