The New Director Of The Secret Service Was Sworn In On March 10
On Monday (March 10), Sean Curran was sworn into his new role as the Secret Service Director. The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem led the swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office.
President Donald Trump was in attendance and shook hands with Curran, congratulating him on the honor.
Curran is now the 28th director of the service.
Curran Has Been With The Agency Since 2001
Curran first joined the Secret Service Agency in September 2001. He eventually worked on President Obama’s detail before being promoted in December 2024 to deputy special agent in charge of the Presidential Protective Detail.
He was in charge of President Trump’s detail for four years and was present when a gunman attempted to assassinate President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 14, 2024.
Curran rushed to cover Trump once shots rang out and guided him to safety.

On January 22, 2025, Trump appointed Curran as the next director of the Secret Service, saying, “He proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin’s bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
In a statement, Noem praised Currant, saying, “Sean’s brave actions when he risked his life to help save President Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania is a testament to his dedication to the mission of the US Secret Service. With his decades of experience, he will return the Secret Service to focusing on its core mission: protecting American leaders and the U.S. financial system.”
She continued, “I look forward to working alongside Sean to ensure that the Secret Service is stronger than ever before.”
