Alan Jackson Reveals Unseen Footage From His Monumental Farewell Show

Country music icon Alan Jackson‘s performing career has officially come to an end.
On Saturday, June 27th, the “Chattahoochee” singer performed his final live show to a sold-out Nashville crowd of more than 70,000 fans. The evening was a star-studded affair, with performances from Lainey Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Riley Green, Lee Ann Womack, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, and more.
The guest of honor performed for nearly two hours, treating fans to his greatest hits from over the decades. One of the most memorable collaborations of the night came when George Strait joined Alan on stage to sing “Murder on Music Row” and “Designated Drinker.”
After playing an encore, Jackson bid an emotional farewell and waved to the crowd as he walked off the stage and into retirement.
Why did Alan Jackson retire?
After more than three decades of performing, Alan Jackson ultimately bid farewell to road life due to his chronic health issues. In 2021, he revealed on the TODAY Show that he is battling Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease (CMT), a degenerative nerve disease with no cure. He said:
“It’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious. And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.”
Now 67 years old, he had to rely on a custom-made support to keep him upright while performing on stage. In the video below, you can see him leaning against the apparatus.

A little over a week after the iconic show, Alan Jackson shared a video featuring behind-the-scenes clips from the unforgettable night.
Set to his emotional ballad “Remember When,” it shows footage of artists doing soundcheck before the gates opened, thousands of fans filling the stands, audience members dancing and getting emotional as the Country Music Hall of Fame member played.
Along with the video, he wrote:
“We’ll always remember the music, the moments, and everyone who made this night so special. Thank you to every artist who helped kick off the evening and every fan who made #LastCallWithAlanTheFinale unforgettable!”
