“American Idol” Judge Katy Perry Welcomes Baby Girl With Fiancé Orlando Bloom

There’s a new member of the American Idol family!

In March, Idol judge and pop star Katy Perry released her music video for a new song, “Never Worn White.” At the end of the clip, she revealed she was expecting her first child with her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom (Bloom shares a son, Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr).

Millions tuned in to watch the clip, and were ecstatic about Perry’s pregnancy news. She later shared she was expecting a baby girl.

Perry made it known she was due in the summer, though she never shared her exact due date.

Back in early August, Perry’s fellow Idol judge Luke Bryan told Entertainment Tonight he knew when Perry was due to welcome her daughter.

“She’s pretty close,” he said at that time.

A couple weeks after Bryan gave that interview, Idol confirmed that he, Perry, and Lionel Richie will all be returning to judge its 2021 season.

Perry celebrated the news on Instagram, writing, “Can #babycat get a high chair next to the desk?”

Looks like that high chair will definitely be in order now, since Perry recently gave birth to her baby girl!

Perry and Bloom shared the happy news of their daughter’s arrival through a statement they provided to UNICEF. Both Perry and Bloom are Goodwill Ambassadors for the charity.

The couple then shared their statement on their respective social media profiles along with a black and white photo of them holding their daughter’s hand.

They also revealed their baby girl’s name…Daisy Dove Bloom.

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” Perry and Bloom told UNICEF.

The couple went on to share how fortunate they were to have a “peaceful” birthing experience with good healthcare. But they realize that isn’t the same case for many people:

“Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes…As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”

Perry and Bloom said they also set up a donation page with UNICEF to celebrate Daisy’s arrival.

“By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child,” read their statement.
