American Idol Will Return On January 26

Season 24 of American Idol will be here before we know it!

Back in August, judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie teased the upcoming season in a back-to-school type video. This confirmed that the Season 23 judges would be returning!

Many fans wondered if host Ryan Seacrest would also return, and since he wasn’t seen in the video, people started to get worried.

Over the summer, he had a lot going on with hosting Wheel of Fortune, his hugely popular radio show, plus his other producing duties, on top of flying to Atlanta every weekend to be with his father, Gary, who was battling cancer. Sadly, Gary passed away at the end of October.

A report from Deadline confirmed in September that Seacrest would be returning.

“The band will be back together on American Idol,” Deadline wrote. “ABC has confirmed Emmy winner Ryan Seacrest will return as host for Season 9, the music competition series’ 24th overall, joining previously announced returning judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood. Season 9 will premiere in January on ABC and Hulu.”

Deadline refers to the upcoming season as Season 9, because it will be the ninth season of the series on ABC after the network picked it up from being cancelled on Fox after 15 years.

Idol also revealed Seacrest’s return on social media, writing, “Seacrest…IN! 🤩 Join us in welcoming @ryanseacrest back to host a new season of @americanidol!”

American Idol Releases First Teaser For Season 24

In the very first teaser for the new season, Carrie, Luke, and Lionel all wore matching letterman-style jackets.

“We’re heading to Nashville,” Luke Bryan says before Richie continues, “to find the best, undiscovered talent.”

It was previously reported that the show would be filming a portion of the show in Nashville, Tennessee at Belmont University as a new re-vamped version of Hollywood Week, now called Hollywood Week: Music City Takeover.

In the clip, we also see a few of the contestants who are auditioning and the judges all saying yes!

We can’t wait for the new season to start! Watch the clip below.
