Armed Nashville Security Guard Fatally Shot During St. Patrick’s Day Incident

A heartbreaking turn of events unfolded early Sunday morning (March 17) as an armed security guard was fatally shot amidst St. Patrick’s Day festivities, as confirmed by local law enforcement.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 33-year-old security guard Maurice Thomas Jr. lost his life after being shot around 2 a.m. while on duty in the parking lot of the Illuzion Bar and Lounge on Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville, Tennessee.

Security Guard Confronted By Suspected Car Burglars

According to police statements, Thomas, who was patrolling the lot, was confronted by individuals believed to be involved in car burglary activities. The altercation escalated, resulting in multiple gunshots being fired, tragically claiming Thomas’s life.

Authorities have revealed that amidst the chaos, it remains uncertain if any shots were discharged from Thomas’s firearm.

Following the incident, Thomas was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his wounds.

Furthermore, police investigations revealed that three vehicles in the parking lot had been burglarized. These vehicles have since been impounded and are undergoing thorough processing as part of the ongoing evidence collection process.

Despite efforts, law enforcement has not yet apprehended a suspect in connection with the shooting.

Authorities Seek Information As Investigation Continues
