“Country music’s hottest stars deliver the perfect soundtrack for your summer as they debut new songs and reprise old classics live by the lake at Southall in Franklin, TN.“
Tillis actually recorded “Maybe It Was Memphis” twice. Her first recording was in 1980. But her second, and most popular recording, debuted in 1991.
The song reached the third spot on the Hot Country Songs chart in the U.S. and the fourth spot on the country chart in Canada. Today, many consider “Maybe It Was Memphis” to be Tillis’ signature song.
Several artists have covered “Maybe It Was Memphis” over the years.
Voice winner Danielle Bradbery famously performed the song on the show in 2013. Her version reached the 25th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart. Artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Lauren Alaina, and Grace West also covered the song.
Now, McBryde can add her name to that list with her Summer Sessions cover. Her rendition of “Maybe It Was Memphis” was powerful and country to the core.
People commenting on the Facebook video of McBryde’s performance wrote:
