Country singer Ashley McBryde is in mourning. Her brother William Clayton McBryde Jr., who goes by Clay, passed away at the age of 53.

According to his obituary, Clay passed away on June 20 at his home in Russellville, Arkansas. He was a 25-year veteran of the Russellville Police Department and served in the United States Army for more than four years. He deployed to Iraq during his time in the service.

Ashley didn’t comment on her brother’s death until Sunday (June 24) to tell her fans and followers what they could do to help. Instead of flowers, Ashley revealed that her nephew Bradley has asked that donations be made in Clay’s honor to the organization Mission 22.
