Roughly four months after losing her parents, sister, and brother-in-law in a tragic plane crash, southern gospel singer Autumn Nelon Streetman has welcomed her first child.

Rhett James Streetman was born December 1 to Autumn and her husband, Jamie. Baby Rhett shares the special day with his late grandma, Kelly Nelon Clark, who was born on that day in 1959.

Autumn shared the news on social media, saying, “The hardest but most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Happy Birthday Mama, I think you would love this birthday gift.

Kelly Nelon Clark was among 7 killed when the plane they were traveling on crashed in rural northeastern Wyoming on July 26, 2024.

Other victims included Kelly’s husband, Jason Clark, and their oldest daughter, Amber Kistler, who were members of the award-winning family gospel group, The Nelons.

Amber’s husband, Nathan, the group’s assistant, Melodi Hodges, and the plane’s pilot and his wife, Larry and Melissa Haynie, were also on board the plane when it crashed.

Autumn Streetman, the youngest child of Kelly and Jason, were not aboard the plane at the time, instead choosing to travel via a commercial flight. The family was scheduled to meet up in Seattle where they were to board a Gaither Homecoming Cruise with numerous other southern gospel groups.

Autumn returned to the stage for her family’s memorial service. She joined the Isaacs to sing “Family Chain,” a moment that was a testament of Autumn’s faith in the midst of heartbreak.

The new of baby Rhett’s birth comes on the heels of other exciting news for Autumn Nelon Streetman and fans of The Nelons.

On November 27, the Recording Academy announced that The Nelons’ final album, Loving You, had been nominated for a Grammy Award. The project is up for Best Roots Gospel Album at the 2025 Grammys.

Album producer Wayne Haun celebrated the nomination by sharing that the last conversation he had with Kelly was about the album’s Grammy-worthiness a week before her death.

“I told them this was a Grammy-worthy recording. Kelly cried as we started talking about the impact these songs would have. That was the last time I heard Kelly’s voice. So it’s really been a bittersweet season with this recording. It’s so so good, and it was so so good before the tragedy,” Haun wrote on Facebook. “In my opinion it’s worthy of a win. Win or not, I’m glad people have gravitated to this album. Congrats to my friends. I’m so proud of Autumn for her strength and I really hope heaven has a window the others can look through and know … we got the nod!!”
