Billy Ray Cyrus Files For Temporary Restraining Order Against Wife
on Jun 14, 2024
In the midst of their divorce proceedings, Billy Ray Cyrus has taken new legal action against his estranged wife, Firerose.
Just seven months into their marriage, Cyrus filed for divorce from Firerose on May 23, citing irreconcilable differences as well as “inappropriate marital conduct.”
Now, it seems their issues have taken another step further.
On Thursday, June 13, Cyrus filed an emergency motion in court, seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent her from using his personal and business credit cards and accounts.
The country singer claimed that Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, has reportedly made 37 unauthorized charges totaling $96,986 on his business American Express card. These charges allegedly included payments of over $70,000 to her attorneys.
“As a result of these fraudulent charges…I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts,” Cyrus wrote in an affidavit as reported by PEOPLE.
In the documents, Billy Ray Cyrus claims that the unauthorized charges started on the very day he filed for divorce.
In response to Cyrus’s urgent legal action, Firerose said that there was no immediate need for such action, stating that she has had permission to use his American Express credit card since June 2022.
Firerose’s attorneys responded, “To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue. Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”

Cyrus’ side, however, states that he and Firerose did not have shared accounts, credit cards, or property. Additionally, he asserts that neither of them had ever been authorized to use each other’s cards or accounts.
The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer is currently requesting his estranged wife to reimburse him for any “unauthorized” purchases made with his business credit card.
