A little black cocker spaniel dog named Olive was rescued from Los Angeles streets, where she was wandering almost completely blind. After taking a look at her, they realized her vision was damaged by severe cataracts.

Olive was fortunately adopted by Holly and Bart Emmerson. She flew her to Vancouver and lived with them for almost 3 years. During these years, they helped raise funds to have Olive regain her eyesight. Her eye surgery cost was about 5,000 dollars.

“They didn’t want us to adopt her until after the surgery so we kind of knew what we were getting into with her. But we were on board from the beginning,” Holly explained to Inspiremore.com.

After her surgery, the family made their way to the veterinary to check on Olive. Holly recorded a short video where she shares her excitement after she was informed that the surgery was a success.

On Olive’s side, she was also excited to see her owners for the first time and identify them. As Olive was walking her way out of the veterinary office, she ran to her family full of joy.

“When she saw us for the first time it was the cutest thing ever and I just started bawling,” Bart shared with Inspiremore.com.

Before surgery, Olive could barely see. Now she likes to “stop and stare and watch the cars and the people and the bikes,” Holly told Inspiremore.com. She’s much happier now since the surgery and she particularly enjoys the beach and running around flowers in the park.
