Kelly Clarkson may not be a country artist by default, but she has dabbled in the genre from time to time. Many of her greatest role models and friends happen to be country artists, including Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood.
Because of her ties to country music, when Clarkson had the chance to meet a country legend during an appearance on Ellen, she couldn’t contain her excitement.
Who did Clarkson get to meet? Well, none other than “Something to Talk About” singer Bonnie Raitt.
Clarkson tweeted about the meeting, sharing a photo of her and Raitt posing backstage. “So this happened!” she wrote, calling it the “best day ever.”

As the 50th greatest singer of all time according to Rolling Stone and the recipient of ten Grammy Awards, it’s no wonder Clarkson was so starstruck when she met Raitt!
During a stop on her Piece by Piece Tour in Nashville, Tennessee, Clarkson performed what she called her “favorite song of all time,” which is Raitt’s song “Love Me Like a Man.” You can watch her performance in the video below.
We think Clarkson delivered an astounding rendition of her idol’s song! Raitt should be extremely proud.
