‘Idol’ Contestant Shocks Crowd As She Belts Out Kelly Clarkson

As American Idol‘s final season comes to an end, the top 8 contestants have just a few more opportunities to win over America’s hearts in hopes of becoming the next ‘Idol.’
This week, 20-year-old Massachusetts native, Sonika Vaid, switched from heartfelt ballads to pop star when she wowed the crowd with a Kelly Clarkson classic, “Since U Been Gone.“
In a sparkling gold top and ripped jeans, Vaid channeled her inner Clarkson and captivated the audience with her powerful vocals and fun performance of the “angry ex-girlfriend” song.
The audience, as well as the judges, couldn’t help but sing along as Vaid took the stage by storm.
Following the performance, The judges began their critique, telling Vaid that,
We don’t need to keep reiterating your talent, the sound of your voice, all of that stuff. So I’m going to put that aside for a minute because you’re extremely talented.
Although they each had a few things she could work on, they have always agreed that she deserved to make it this far.
