Blake Shelton Charms With Catchy Country Tune From The ‘Angry Birds’ Soundtrack
on Apr 07, 2016
Ever since Blake Shelton announced that he would be playing a singing pig named Earl in the upcoming Angry Birds Movie, fans have been anxious to hear his song in the film.
Based on the popular video game of the same name, Shelton’s character is portrayed as a larger-than-life hillbilly pig. Shelton pointed out once before that his character kind of looks like him, and that he even has his signature arm tattoo.
Back when Shelton first revealed he would be playing Earl, he told Entertainment Weekly that coming up with a song for the film was actually quite a challenge. “I can write things about myself and my life,” he said. “But I don’t have a whole lot of experience being shot out of a slingshot at pigs.”
Despite his initial struggles, Shelton finally came up with a song for Earl to sing, and released it on Wednesday (April 6) for everyone to hear. The song, called “Friends,” is a musical celebration of the start of a new friendship:
“Who’s gonna tell us now that we can’t fly?/Just some roughed up desperadoes/Hanging tough through thick and thin/Kicking up dust wherever we go/I can see that you and me are gonna be friends.”
“Friends” is catchy and upbeat due not only to Shelton’s performance, but the fun banjo part featured heavily in the song. You can listen to “Friends” in the official music video below.
We can’t wait to see how the song comes into play in the Angry Birds Movie!
