A year ago, Duck Dynasty star John Luke Robertson married his bride, Mary Kate.

Following their summer nuptials, the young couple moved to Virginia to attend Liberty University, where John Luke majors in Camp and Outdoor Adventure Leadership.

“It teaches you how to run a camp,” he tells ABC News. “We do business and non-profit law, but we also do camp games and survival skills.”

Both college freshmen with a full load of classes, John Luke somehow managed to fit in writing a book into his hectic schedule. Young and Beardless: The Search for God, Purpose and a Meaningful Life was inspired by his wife and hopes that after people read it, they will want to live their lives to the fullest.

Although they do both have busy schedules, they make sure they do one thing together every night.

“We always have dinner together, that’s the staple. No matter what’s going on, what we are doing, we always have dinner together … [Also] at night, we do school work and whatever else we are working on,” he says.

The best part about being married to Mary Kate? “Just being able to be with her everyday,” he says, but it is also the hardest part.

“When you are dating, you get in a fight, you can go to your separate houses and think about it,” he explains. “When you’re married, where are you gonna go?”

Because the trend in his family is to marry young and have children young, the question on everyone’s mind is when he and Mary Kate will grow their family.

“I plan on waiting till after college. Mary Kate mentioned once about having a baby, so I got her a dog!” he explained. “That seems to be holding her at bay right now.”
