When Lady Antebellum took some time off to pursue individual projects, there were whispers that Hillary Scott may release a gospel album. Finally, on Friday (April 22), Scott confirmed that the whispers were true when she announced her plans to release what she described as a “faith-based album” titled Love Remains

But Scott didn’t take on this new project on her own. In a post to her Instagram, she revealed that her parents and younger sister both join her in singing on the album, which is why she says it is by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family.

Scott was more than happy to describe her new project to her fans. “Keeping all this excitement under wraps has been such a challenge,” she wrote. “Today though, I can shout it from the rooftops. Oh happy day!

She shared that some of the songs on her album are ones she grew up singing in church, but she also helped co-write some original songs to include as well. One such song is the album’s first single, “Thy Will,” which Scott released after she made her announcement.

Scott said she considers “Thy Will” to be her personal “letter to God,” and that the inspiration for it came from a recent heartbreaking experience. Although she didn’t elaborate on what that experience was, it’s clear that it affected her deeply, and she turned to her faith and her music for support during that time.

As for why she decided to make a gospel album, Scott said she wanted to share more of who she is as a person, and that gospel music represents her perfectly:

“These songs, and many like them, are the cry of my heart. I have been singing songs like this my whole life whether it be in church, with family and friends gathered around with guitars on my screened in porch, rocking my baby girl to sleep or while holding the hand of a dying loved one.”

Scott closed her message by thanking all of her fans for their support, signing off with the note that there will be “more to come very soon!

Congratulations to Scott on her new project! We can’t wait to hear the rest!
