Scotty McCreery Shares ‘Creepy’ Fan Encounter That Will Make You Cringe

CNN

Some fans will do anything to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrity, something that Scotty McCreery learned that hard way one time.

Ever since McCreery was crowned the champion of American Idol in 2011, he’s developed a strong and loyal fanbase. For the most part, McCreery’s fans respect him and his privacy, but as he told Fox News, there was one fan who stepped a bit over the line.

I’ve had a fan drive from Maine down to North Carolina and was banging on my door,” he said.

Whoa, that must have been scary! Out of all the fan encounters McCreery has experienced over the years, this one definitely takes the cake as the scariest. McCreery admits that the experience weirded him out, but that he still had to admire his fan’s dedication.

It’s a little creepy, but that just speaks to the passion,” he said. “I’m not endorsing coming to my door but I love the passion.

Overall, McCreery has nothing but praise for his fans, who he thanks for sticking by him all these years. He cited the loyalty of country fans, saying how the same people that rooted for him on American Idol are still the ones coming out to his shows.

Although McCreery isn’t on tour right now, he is traveling across the country to promote his new book Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream. In between the stops on his book tour, McCreery found the time to appear at the Grand Ole Opry, where he performed a tribute to the late Merle Haggard with “Mama Tried.” You can watch his performance below.

As McCreery continues to travel across the country on his book tour, we hope he doesn’t experience any other strange fan encounters!
