Country Band Changes Lyrics To Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’, And Now It’s Perfect
on May 09, 2016 • Updated Jan 11, 2019
When Miley Cyrus released “Wrecking Ball” in 2013, it shot straight to No. 1 on the charts just four weeks after its release.
The popularity of the song was insane! It became the third-highest single week sales of 2013 and has been covered by several notable artists including The Gregory Brothers, Haim, Walk Off The Earth, and Rumer Willis.
A New Version
Country band Parmalee took notice of Cyrus’ hit, but decided instead of covering the original version, they would change the lyrics up a bit. While Cyrus is singing about a failed relationship, Parmalee is singing about the cinnamon whiskey, Fireball.
While performing their version live on The Bobby Bones Show, they changed the lyrics from “I came in like a wrecking ball” to “but somebody bought us Fireball”. They continue to sing about going to Tin Roof, a popular chain of live music bars, for happy hour and getting a little too crazy when they started taking shots of Fireball.

Their version is relatable for anyone who has experienced a night where people made them take shots of Fireball.
About The Band
Parmalee formed their band in the early 2000s. Consisting of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, they joined forces with their cousin Barry Knox and childhood best friend Josh McSwain. The band is best known for their No. 1 hit single, “Carolina” which was off their Feels Like Carolina album.
