Between her Texas roots and family ties to the legendary Reba McEntire, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that international superstar Kelly Clarkson would try her hand at country music. Teaming up with country music icon Vince Gill, the Idol star dazzled the 2012 CMA Awards with an enchanting performance of their hit country single “Don’t Rush.”

“Here’s something you don’t see everyday,” introduced award show host Carrie Underwood. “An ‘Idol’ singing with an icon. Together for the first time, Kelly Clarkson and Vince Gill!”

With her powerful vocals and emotion constantly pouring into each of her performances, it’s no wonder the singer was invited to be a part of the prestigious CMA Awards back in 2012. Clarkson taking lead on vocals while Gill displayed his killer guitar skills and simultaneously performing back up vocals, their performance is surely one that will still be talked about in the years to come.

“Don’t Rush” marks Clarkson’s second documented country song as a main artist, going on to receive a Grammy nomination for “Best Country Duo/ Group Performance” as the 56th annual Grammy Awards.

You can watch their performance of “Don’t Rush” below.
