As we remember the late Patsy Cline, who passed on way too young at the age of thirty, we remember all the people that were affected by her legendary talent. One person in particular is the beautiful Loretta Lynn as they were such close friends.

Before her medley performance of hit Patsy Cline songs, Loretta had a few things to say about her dear friend.

“The first girl singer I met was Patsy Cline and we became the best of friends. In ’63, Patsy was killed in an airplane crash. I never sang any of her songs after that and when someone from the audience would holler out a Patsy Cline number, it would mess up my whole show. Well, last year I went into a recording studio and I did an album of Patsy’s greatest hits… And I still have a hard time singing them, but I’m gonna sing them for you anyway.”

Loretta starts off with “I Fall To Pieces”, then the song melts into “Walking After Midnight”, and finally she finishes off with the classic “Crazy” and a huge smile. Though no one could ever perform these hits like Patsy Cline, the Queen of Country, Loretta, sure pays tribute in a beautiful way, showcasing her own talent in the process.

As Cline’s plaque in the Country Music Hall of Fame states, “Her heritage of timeless recordings is testimony to her artistic capacity.” She is without a doubt, one of the greatest singers of all time and is definitely missed.
