Who doesn’t know Creedence Clearwater Revival? Who doesn’t know “Bad Moon Rising”? No one, that’s who. It’s listed by Rolling Stone has one of the top 500 songs of all time and we think most people would agree. So, of course Johnny Cash would have had them perform on his television show and when they did, they brought the house down.

Written by John Fogerty, “Bad Moon Rising” was released in 1969 on CCR’s Green River album. It peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Top 100 Singles chart, but reached the top spot in both the U.K. and Ireland. The song has been covered several times. One notable version was performed by Emmylou Harris, as can be seen below, and it’s phenomenal!

CCR completely knocks this one out of the park, but when do they not? Their invigorating performance really amps up the energy, making it impossible not to sing along to. Check out the rad classic below!

BAD MOON RISING LYRICS

see a bad moon rising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin’.
I see bad times today.

Don’t go around tonight,
Well it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes a blowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

Well don’t go around tonight,
Well it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

Well don’t go around tonight,
Well it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.

Don’t come around tonight,
Well it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.
