Dubbed “Country Music’s Night To Rock”, CMA Fest 2016 definitely did not disappoint.

It was packed with performances by country music’s biggest superstars including Little Big Town, Brett Eldredge, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, and Blake Shelton.

Shelton’s performance captured our attention because it was quite different than everyone else’s upbeat and high-energy productions.

He performed his hit song “Came Here To Forget” off his latest album If I’m Honest. Each time he performs it, he brings the same passion emotion that the song calls for.

In a statement prior to the release of “Came Here To Forget”, Shelton said, “I’ve had a lot of music over the years, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life. That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song.”

“Came Here To Forget” tells a story of a couple that meets at a bar, with the first line sounding like a reference to Shelton’s ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, and his new girlfriend, Gwen StefaniGirl you’re getting over him, and I’m getting over her,” Shelton sings, before singing that the two are “doing our best to make the best of the worst of it.

Shelton does not play guitar on this number, but he played a mean air guitar during the musical break!
