During her concert in Clarkson, Michigan on August 2, Gwen Stefani was all smiles as she shared the stage with her boyfriend, Blake Shelton, to sing their duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart." The moment was a big one for Stefani, considering where she had been only one year prior.
Stefani's concert took place one day short of the 12 month mark since she and her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, filed for divorce. Like Stefani, Shelton had also been through his own divorce that summer, and the two of them were able to bond as coaches on The Voice over their shared hardships.
That bond strengthened into a relationship and later, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," a song with the couple co-wrote about their past heartbreaks and finding love with one another.
Stefani may have experienced the saddest time of her life a year ago, but during her concert on Tuesday she radiated happiness. So did Shelton, who beamed at her throughout the duration of their duet.
The fans weren't surprised to see Shelton there, since Stefani had been actively talking about him and their rehearsals on Snapchat that day. Still, the fans were thrilled to see Shelton and Stefani perform the duet live, which they've only done a few times since premiering it on the last season of The Voice in May.
Following their duet, the couple recognized one another in front of the crowd before rushing into each other's arms to share a loving embrace.
Tune in below to watch Shelton and Stefani's giddy performance of "Go Ahead and Break My Heart." We wonder if Shelton will tag along for any other parts of Stefani's tour?
