If y’all didn’t know, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson’s friendship has gone back about a decade. Clarkson was managed by Narvel Blackstock, who was the father of Shelton’s manager, Brandon Blackstock.
The Blackstock father and son duo run the company Starstruck Entertainment, which Shelton has previously described as a family, not a company. That sentiment was made extremely true when Clarkson married Brandon in 2013!

Knowing about their long friendship, it came as no surprise that Shelton joined Clarkson on stage during a 2012 performance at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Together, they duetted to “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” Clarkson’s hit song with country star Jason Aldean.
Shelton perfectly performed Aldean’s part and sang in perfect harmony with Clarkson during the chorus. During the bridge, you can tell just how comfortable the two felt around each other. Clarkson knelt down and praised Shelton, while he patted her on the head in a joking manner.
Their incredible duet left many fans wishing Shelton was Clarkson’s duet partner on this song. Who knows, with Clarkson joining Shelton on The Voice for Season 14, we may get to see another collaboration between them!
