When the CMT Music Awards aired in June 2016, the one performance that had everyone talking was Blake Shelton‘s collaboration with the Oak Ridge Boys.
That night was the first time Shelton and the Oak Ridge Boys performed their song “Doing It to Country Songs” in front of a live audience…and they made quite the impression.
Shelton and the Oak Ridge Boys turned their performance into a medley, as they also sang the Oak Ridge Boys’ classic hit, “Elvira.”
Since their CMT Awards performance was such a success, Shelton and the Oak Ridge Boys duplicated it for the CMA Fest a few days later.
Just like they did at the CMT Awards, the bunch started off singing “Doing It to Country Songs” before Shelton stepped in and introduced “Elvira.”
“We can’t let these boys get out of here without doing some real country music,” Shelton said, and the crowd cheered with excitement, knowing what was coming next.
Shelton and the Oak Ridge Boys wrapped up their medley with a spectacular finish. There’s no doubt about it, country fans will continue to buzz about this collaboration for years to come.
Tune in below to watch Shelton and the Oak Ridge Boys join forces on stage at the CMA Fest. It doesn’t get much better than this!
