Something incredible happened in the music world on November 12, 2014. On that day, some of the most talented artists from various genres came together to honor one legendary group…Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The day was filled with one outstanding performance after another. Country legend Charlie Daniels joined Donnie Van Zant on “Down South Jukin'” while Cheap Trick performed “Gimme Back My Bullets.”
But the above mentioned artists were only a few who took to the stage that day, with another being country star Randy Houser. Since making his debut as a solo artist in 2008, Houser has scored three number ones and countless other chart hits, including “How Country Feels” and “We Went.”
For his part in One More For The Fans! – Celebrating The Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Houser covered the group’s rowdy classic from Nuthin’ Fancy, called “Whiskey Rock A Roller.”
In what ended up being one of the best performances from the special, Houser and his band opened up with a powerful statement through the instrumental introduction. But then Houser upped the ante when he started singing, making his entrance with his signature burst of power.
Houser put the perfect blend of country, swing, and rock into his vocals, giving his cover enough of a twist without straying too far from the original. Plus, Houser’s raw talent as a vocalist in general can’t be ignored, and this performance showcases his voice to the highest degree.
If you love good music, then you don’t want to miss out on watching Houser sing “Whiskey Rock A Roller” below. Once you’re done, let us know your thoughts about his performance!
