Country superstar Dierks Bentley gave George Strait’s classic a bluegrass makeover live on stage at CMT’s “Greatest Love Songs Concert.”

Dierks took the stage with the Del McMurry Band back in 2011 and wowed the crowd with his modern twist of “I Cross My Heart.” Dierks maintained the cool country feel of the original but added a touch of bluegrass; his band complete with a fiddle, banjo, and acoustic guitar.

“I cross my heart and promise to give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true,” sings Dierks. “In all the world you’ll never find a love as true as mine.”

Strait’s classic was released in 1992 as the premiere single of his album Pure Country and debuted at No.58 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and eventually went on to peak at No.1.

The song was featured in the closing scene of the American film Pure Country starring George Strait who plays a country super star in search of love and a “real music style.”
