Last Christmas, everyone was talking about the television movie based on Dolly Parton‘s life story, called Coat of Many Colors. Over 16 million people tuned in to watch the touching film, which was inspired by Parton’s song of the same name. It was the most-watched film on cable or broadcast in nearly seven years, which means lots of people were hopeful for a sequel.

Their wishes were granted when Parton announced a sequel to the film, called Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, would be ready in time for the 2016 holiday season. Parton has revealed small details about the film in interviews since then, saying it will center around her father’s quest to give her mother a special Christmas gift…the wedding ring he could never afford to buy.

Filming is taking place in Georgia, and Parton was on set on Wednesday (August 10). But she wasn’t just there to watch. As she shared in an interview with Vogue, the reason she was on set is because she was filming a cameo appearance in the film!

I came down to do a little cameo part in the movie that’s coming out this Christmas, and then we’re back out on the road,” she said, referring to her current Pure & Simple Tour.

Parton didn’t elaborate any further on her role in the film, leaving us to wonder what type of character she plays. Although Parton didn’t appear in the first movie, her sister, Stella, played the town gossip Corla Bass.

Now we’re even more excited than we were before to see Christmas of Many Colors when it debuts in December. Knowing that Parton is going to make an appearance in it is the icing on the cake!

In the meantime, relive some of the heartwarming moments from the first film by watching its trailer below.
