Blake Shelton Gushes Over Having ‘The Hottest Date’ During Acceptance Speech

Blake Shelton took home two wins last night (Jan.18) at the People’s Choice Awards for “Favorite Male Country Artist” as well as “Favorite Album.” The country singer took the time to thank all those that helped make this special moment possible, including his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani

“Got a lot of people to thank,” he began. “All the people who voted for me: thank you so much, thank you to Warner Nashville, and my management, and thanks to the hottest date here tonight, Gwen Stefani whose sitting out there.”

The camera pans to Stefani who turns bright red in response to Shelton’s adorable shoutout. The country singer then goes on to respond to all those maybe doubting a country album could take home the all genre win for album of the year.

“I look at that category of album of the year and know that somewhere out there, there’s someone going, ‘I mean how did he win album of the year? Like isn’t that just a country album full of stereotypical cheating, and drinking, and tailgates?’ And to that person I say, you’re damn right it is!”

Stefani and Shelton have been dating for just a little over a year after meeting as coaches on NBC’s The Voice. The pair recently took their relationship to the next level by spending the holidays together with their blended families.
