At the 23rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, country legend Hank Williams Jr. pulled double duty. Co-hosting the awards show with Reba McEntire, Hank Jr. also performed his biggest hit from the previous year, “Born To Boogie.”

We don’t come here just for the awards,” McEntire told the audience. “We come here to party, and believe me, nobody knows how to party better than my friend, and my co-host for tonight’s show, Hank Williams, Jr.!

He kicked off the song with a high energy guitar solo before jumping into the fast-paced lyrics about his Southern upbringing. He traded off verses with face-melting guitar riffs and got everyone on their feet with the rowdy chorus.

The audience was loving every second of his performance, and even more so when he transitioned into his 1984 hit “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight.” This was a perfect way to start off the awards show and give folks a taste of what was to come!
