Sporting suspenders that read his name, Hank Williams Jr. took the CMA Fest stage with Brad Paisley to perform their duet, “I’m Gonna Get Drunk and Play Hank Williams”.

The song was included on Hank Jr’s 2012 album, Old School New Rules, which was the perfect album to include this song on. “I’m Gonna Get Drunk” has an old school country feel, but its lyrics are very modern and clever. As a lyricist, Hank Jr. always plays

Fans were surprised to find that Bocephus had recruited Paisley to sing on the track, since their styles are extremely different, but his voice was the perfect addition.

The tune references a few Hank Williams songs including “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, “Lovesick Blues”, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, and even one Hank Jr. song, “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound”.

Paisley and Hank Jr. traded off taking the lead in the verses, but joined together for the chorus. They had the whole crowd on their feet dancing!
