A few years ago, Home Free offered up their own rendition of Greenwood’s patriotic hit. Their a cappella rendition was released in 2016, just days before the 4th of July holiday.
Home Free rose to fame after winning the 2013 season of the singing competition series The Sing-Off. The group is now known for their a cappella versions of country and pop songs such as Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” Ed Sheeran’s “Castle on the Hill,” and Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather.”
Home Free Sings “God Bless The U.S.A.” In Front Of Mount Rushmore
Founding member Chris Rupp arranged Home Free’s version of “God Bless the U.S.A.” The arrangement perfectly showcased each individual member’s talents.
Lead tenor Austin Brown sang most of the solos while the other members provided beautiful harmonies. Beatboxer Adam Rupp chimed in with the more “instrumental” sounds. At one point in the song, he perfectly mimicked the sound of a pounding snare drum.
The five talented singers added an extra patriotic element to their performance by singing in front of Mount Rushmore.
Home Free’s version of “God Bless the U.S.A.” has been watched over 14 million times on YouTube in the eight years since its release. You’ll understand why that is when you check out their performance in the first video below.
