The worlds of country and pop music collided back in 2010 when Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson teamed up to create their romantic duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

When originally pitched to Aldean, the song wasn’t a duet but the country singer fought strongly for the inclusion of a female voice. The singer considered various female vocalists as his partner (including Carrie Underwood) but listed Clarkson as his number one choice.

“Don’t You Wanna Stay” quickly soared to No.1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs as well as peaking at No.31 on the all genre Hot 100. The song was awarded “Single by a Vocal Collaboration” and “Music Video by a Duo/Group/Collaboration” at the 2011 American Country Awards.

You can watch them perform the song live at the 2010 CMA Awards in the video below and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
