Julianne Hough has almost too many talents to count. As a dancer, actress, and singer, Julianne has successfully transitioned from being a professional dancer on Dancing With the Stars, to a country artist, to a movie star.
Over the years, Julianne has returned to her roots at Dancing with the Stars by serving as a guest judge, and later a permanent judge. But after Julianne announced she would be taking time off to pursue other aspects of her career, country fans were hopeful that meant another country album was in her future.
Julianne released her debut country album back in 2008, and it was obvious from the start that she was welcome in the community. Her album snagged the top spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart, and also peaked at the third spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Although she only released two singles from that album, called “That Song in My Head” and “Hallelujah Song,” Julianne managed to make a name for herself in country music in no time at all. She was rewarded for her success in 2009, when she took home the ACM award for Top New Female Vocalist and Top New Artist.
Included on Julianne’s album was a duet with her brother, Derek Hough, who is also a multi-talented star. Like his sister, Derek found his claim to fame as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars, and is currently the pro with the most wins on the show. Also like Julianne, Derek took some time off of Dancing in order to pursue his acting career and other projects.
Back when Julianne recorded tracks for her debut album, she featured a duet with Derek, called “Dreaming Under the Same Moon.” While Julianne sings lead on most of the song, Derek sings one of the verses and the chorus.
To go along with her album, Julianne filmed a session with AOL Music, and Derek happened to stop by so they could sing their duet. They bounced off of one another’s energy the entire time, which made the duet fun and enjoyable to watch. Not to mention their voices sound amazing together, particularly when they harmonize with one another.
This is one of few performances ever recorded of Julianne and Derek singing this song together, so it’s something you definitely don’t want to miss out on. Check it out in the video below.
If Julianne ever does get around to recording a second country album, we hope she’ll consider inviting Derek to do another duet!
