Kane Brown & Lauren Alaina Get Up Close & Steamy In Killer CMA Fest Duet

These hometown friends grew up dreaming of making their way to Music City U.S.A., little did they know they would become two of country music’s brightest stars by their early twenties. From choir buddies to country hitmakers, Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina teamed up for a steamy performance of their powerful duet, “What Ifs.”

The longtime friends first met at their Georgia-based middle school in chorus class, Alaina fiercely encouraging the country singer to pursue music after she heard him sing one day in class.

“I’m shy off stage, but back then I was real shy anywhere,” Brown shared with Taste of Country. “And we were in choir together, and she just told me, ‘You need to sing. I feel like you can sing.’ So I did, and it got me here, so I credit her.”

Years later in 2011, Alaina went on to place second in Season 10 of American Idol after fellow country singer Scotty McCreery was named champion. Brown made his own way to Nashville in 2015 with the debut of his self titled EP made possible after a string of successful cover videos featuring him singing iconic country songs went viral.

The biggest names in country music come together each year for Nashville’s CMA Music Festival. While this performance may be from the 2017 festival, it is still one of the most talked about performances that stage has ever seen.
