Before Kelly Clarkson was the very first American Idol, she was a young girl from Fort Worth, Texas who owned every Reba McEntire album ever released. After she won the coveted title, she was given many opportunities in the music world, one being able to sing with her idol on the show that made her an Idol.
Together, they sang McEntire’s hit song “Does He Love You” during the American Idol tour in Las Vegas in 2002. That duet went so well, they performed it again for their adoring fans during their 2007 CMT Crossroads episode. They beautifully sang the heartbreaking song about two women being in love with the same man, wondering which of them he truly loves.
McEntire originally released in August 1993 with guest vocalist Linda Davis. The duo won a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Collaboration, a CMA award for Vocal Event of the Year and a TNN/Music City News award, now known as the CMT Awards, for Best Vocal Collaboration.
We know that this song does not translate to their personal lives, seeing as Clarkson eventually went on to marry McEntire’s stepson, Brandon Blackstock, but during the duet, the two powerhouse vocalists were able to look and sound as if they really were fighting over the same man.
