Kid Rock Delivers Chills With Emotional Performance Of His Country Song

Kid Rock is one of those artists that you can never put in a box. Name almost any genre of music, and Rock has probably recorded a song that could fit in that category.

Although he’s dabbled in rock and rap before, Rock has leaned more toward the country side of the spectrum in recent years. With the smash success of country/Southern rock tracks such as “Picture” and “All Summer Long,” Rock has found a spot for himself in the country music community.

The Michigan native currently has a home in Nashville, and has grown to love Music City and the entire state of Tennessee. That passion is made clear in a country song he recorded, which serves as a tribute to the state he now considers home.

Called “Tennessee Mountaintop,” Rock offered a glimpse at the tune during his performance at Charlie Daniels‘ 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam in November 2016. He revisited the song once again during his February 14, 2017 appearance on The Big Interview with Dan Rather.

Rock offered to play the song for Rather from the comfort of his living room. With nothing but his acoustic guitar and two background singers to accompany him, Rock delivered one of the most powerful performances that we’ve ever seen from him.

“Tennessee Mountaintop” sounds more country than any song we’ve ever heard Rock sing before. It tells the tale of a man who dreams of moving to California, but discovers it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Instead, he finds peace and happiness in the beautiful state of Tennessee.

There’s something about acoustic performances that make them emotional to watch. Such is the case for Rock’s tribute to Tennessee, especially since you can tell that he truly believes in every word he sings.

You’re sure to get goosebumps once you watch Rock’s performance in the clip below. We think he may have another big hit on his hands with this one!
