A Pop Star With Deep Country Roots
Miley Cyrus may be one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but she is still country at heart.
For starters, Cyrus was born in Tennessee. She also has Billy Ray Cyrus as her father and Dolly Parton as her godmother. In other words, her country roots run deep.
In addition to her official music videos, Cyrus’ YouTube channel contains several videos from her “Backyard Sessions” series. One of those videos is a cover of The Turtles’ popular song “Happy Together.”
Turning A Pop Song Into Something A Little Country
Although the original version of “Happy Together” was pop, Cyrus countrified her rendition.
She started off singing with just one acoustic guitar player accompanying her. This gave her raw, captivating voice the chance to shine. Even once the rest of her band joined in, Cyrus’ voice powered above them all.
The camera focused close on Cyrus’ face most of the time. This allows you to easily see the passion and emotion she poured into her performance.
We really enjoy seeing and listening to this side of Cyrus. We hope you will too! Check out her cover of “Happy Together” below.
