For the very first televised performance of her latest single, “Malibu”, Miley Cyrus did not disappoint.

At the Billboard Music Awards, she was introduced by her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, and younger sister, Noah, who said to the crowd, “For the first time in years with pants on, my big sister, Miley Cyrus!

Miley kicked off her mellow performance wearing a white crop top, matching shorts and a beige hat. Images of balloons appeared on the screen behind the singer as she poured her heart out in her performance.

She got choked up when she sang the lyrics, “Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning and you’re there to save me/And I wanna thank you with all of my heart/It’s a brand new start.”

She has been open about the meaning of her new single, which is an ode to her longtime love, Liam Hemsworth.

They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam… So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, ‘This is how I feel’?” she said in an interview with Billboard.

This is a side of Miley that we have never really seen before and people are loving it. What did you think of her performance? Watch it below.
