Scotty McCreery Gives A Country Makeover To This Pop Mega Hit

Taste of Country

Scotty McCreery, who has built a reputation surrounding his deeply classic country vocals, has stepped out of his comfort zone to cover an out of character 2005 mega hit. The country heart-throb covered The Fray’s “Over My Head (Cable Car)” at a show in Verona, New York.

McCreery gave the early 2000s rock song a country twist while maintaining the high energy rocker-vibe of the original. The country singer is at the top of his game with this performance of the pop-rock classic.

“Over My Head” was The Fray’s debut single of their premiere album How to Save a Life which propelled the band into the spotlight, even winning them a Grammy nomination. The song was written after band mate Isaac Slade’s experienced a falling out with his brother. McCreery’s smooth vocals cut deep singing the sorrowful lines of “suddenly I become part of your past…I’m becoming the part that don’t last.”
