Scotty McCreery left fans in a frenzy after performing a countrified cover of the Eagles‘ smash hit “Take It Easy.”

Taking place at Arena Theater in Houston, Texas, the 23-year-old crooner gave a country makeover to the classic rock song in front of an audience of cheering fans. Acoustic guitar in hand, McCreery showed off his insane guitar skills in addition to his deep southern vocals.

Known for his devotion to keeping country music country, McCreery has a tendency of covering classic songs released far before he was even born. The young artist was the Season 10 champion of American Idol, facing off in the finale against fellow country singer Lauren Alaina.

“Take It Easy” was released in 1972 as the Eagles debut single. The song peaked at No.12 on Billboard’s Hot 100, making a name for the band in the world of rock & roll.

You can hear Scotty McCreery’s rendition of “Take It Easy” below.
