Country music superstar Morgan Wallen found himself in trouble with the law late Sunday evening (April 7). He was arrested on three felony charges after reportedly throwing a chair off of the sixth-floor balcony at Eric Church’s new bar in downtown Nashville.
News Channel 5 reports that Metro Nashville police officers were standing in front of Chief’s Bar when they saw a chair fall from above and hit the ground. The chair landed approximately three feet from the officers. Security footage was reviewed, and the country singer was shown “lunging and throwing an object over the roof.”
According to the arrest report:
“Wallen was arrested for three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were in the vicinity and for the danger to the public…Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct.”

Security footage from Chief’s, the bar where the incident occurred, has not been made public. Bystanders captured a brief video of Morgan Wallen’s arrest, which shows the singer cooperating with police as he is put into handcuffs.

Monday morning, Worrick Robinson, attorney for Morgan Wallen, released a statement reading:
“At 10:53 p.m. Sunday evening, Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities.”
The 30-year-old singer’s bond was set at $15,250. He has since posted bond.
John Rich, one-half of the country duo Big & Rich, shared his reaction to the news of Morgan Wallen’s arrest online. He drew a comparison between Wallen and his younger self, saying that he too did “destructive, crazy things” early on in his career. He adds:
“The combo of intense pressure, expectations and over the top success is a dangerous cocktail.”
Rich expresses gratitude for the people in his life who helped get him on the right path and shares:
“I hope Morgan has some people around him who care about him enough to help him find a new approach to life. It takes a lifetime to build what he’s built, and one second to destroy it all. I’m rooting for him to turn it around.”
